Setup

Ball-handler and screener up top; a shooter lurks behind the screen.

Steps

  1. 1Screener sets a ball screen for the guard.
  2. 2As the screener rolls, the lurking shooter back-screens the roller's defender.
  3. 3The roller gets a clear path to the rim.
  4. 4The back-screener pops out for a three if their defender helps.

Coaching points

  • Time the back-screen as the roll begins.
  • Roller: sprint through the opening.
  • Back-screener: pop out ready to shoot after the screen.

A high-level action that shows advanced players how layered screens overwhelm a defence.
