Move the ball to beat a defence that's a player short.
Decision speed with an advantage. The extra attacker means someone is always open — but only for a moment, so the ball has to move faster than the scrambling defence, and the open player must be found by a pass, not a dribble.
In games: Games hand out short-lived advantages constantly — after a steal, a scramble, a beaten defender — and this teaches teams to cash them in before the defence resets.
U12: start 3-on-2 — slow swings and missed open players are normal. U14–U16: expect scoring inside a four-second, two-dribble cap.
1 ball, half court
Four attackers spaced, three defenders.
Advantage situations teach quick, unselfish decisions and reward ball movement.
Start 3-on-2 for younger groups.
Cap the possession at four seconds and two dribbles.
On a stop or a make, the three defenders break out the other way 3-on-2.
