Setup

Mark a box with cones (roughly the key extended). Everyone has a ball inside the box. Pick 2 taggers who wear pinnies.

Steps

  1. 1Everyone dribbles inside the box, keeping their head up.
  2. 2Taggers try to tag other players (a light two-hand touch) while still dribbling their own ball.
  3. 3If you're tagged — or your ball leaves the box or you lose your dribble — you do 3 dribble moves on the sideline, then rejoin.
  4. 4Swap taggers every 60–90 seconds.

Coaching points

  • Heads up — 'see the whole gym'.
  • Use your body to protect the ball.
  • Reward control over speed.

Why kids love it

It's tag — kids forget they're 'practising' dribbling. Instant energy and everyone touches the ball the whole time.

Variations

Easier

No taggers — just 'keep your ball alive' while a coach calls out moves.

Harder

Taggers can knock other balls out of the box. Last player dribbling wins.
